Nonstandard explicit third-order Runge-Kutta method with positivity property
When one solves differential equations, modeling physical phenomena, it is of great importance to take physical constraints into account. More precisely, numerical schemes have to be designed such that discrete solutions satisfy the same constraints as exact solutions. Based on general theory for positivity, with an explicit third-order Runge-Kutta method (we will refer to it as RK3 method) pos...
متن کاملA note on pseudo - symplectic Runge - Kutta
In 1], the concept of pseudo-symplecticness was introduced in order to construct explicit Runge-Kutta methods which mimic symplectic ones. Of particular interest are methods of order (p; 2p),-i.e. of order p and pseudo-symplecticness order 2p-, for which the growth of the global error remains linear. The aim of this note is to show the existence of methods of orders (4; 8) and (5; 10) with a mi...
متن کاملA survey of pseudo Runge-Kutta methods
This survey collects the theoretical results in the area of pseudo RungeKutta methods (PRK ) for ordinary differential equations and it is a vehicle for a current bibliography from 1966 to 2002. PRK methods require fewer functional evaluations than Runge-Kutta methods of the same order. Byrne and Lambert (1966-1967 ) was the first who considered PRK methods in significative forms. Afterwards Co...
متن کاملA Fourth Order Multirate Runge-Kutta Method with Error Control
To integrate large systems of ordinary differential equations (ODEs) with disparate timescales, we present a multirate method with error control that is based on embedded, explicit Runge-Kutta (RK) formulas. The order of accuracy of such methods depends on interpolating certain solution components with a polynomial of sufficiently high degree. By analyzing the method applied to a simple test eq...
متن کاملHigh Order Runge { Kutta Methods on Manifolds
This paper presents a family of Runge{Kutta type integration schemes of arbitrarily high order for di erential equations evolving on manifolds. We prove that any classical Runge{Kutta method can be turned into an invariant method of the same order on a general homogeneous manifold, and present a family of algorithms that are relatively simple to implement.
